Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Service description

Oaken Mesh is operated by Inspirify Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong. Oaken Mesh provides private mesh networking for Apple devices, built on the WireGuard protocol. The service connects your devices in an encrypted mesh and optionally routes internet traffic through managed exit nodes.

2. Intellectual property

The Oaken Mesh service, including all software, documentation, APIs, designs, trademarks, and content (excluding your data), is and remains the exclusive property of Inspirify Limited or its licensors. Nothing in these terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the service beyond the limited right to use it as described herein.

You retain ownership of your data. By using Oaken Mesh, you grant us only the limited rights necessary to provide, maintain, and improve the service on your behalf.

Feedback

If you provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the service ("Feedback"), you grant Inspirify Limited a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use, modify, and incorporate that Feedback into the service without obligation to you. You are never required to provide Feedback.

3. Acceptable use

Oaken Mesh is a private networking tool. You may use it for any lawful purpose, including:

  • Securing your internet traffic on untrusted networks
  • Accessing your own devices and services remotely
  • Routing traffic through managed exit nodes for privacy
  • Connecting multiple devices in a private mesh

Prohibited activities

You must not use Oaken Mesh to:

  • Distribute malware, ransomware, or engage in phishing
  • Conduct network attacks (DDoS, port scanning, brute forcing) against third parties
  • Send unsolicited bulk email (spam)
  • Access systems or data without authorization
  • Distribute child sexual abuse material (zero tolerance — immediate termination and law enforcement referral)
  • Repeatedly infringe copyright (we maintain a repeat-infringer policy as required by law)
  • Violate applicable laws in your jurisdiction or the jurisdiction of the exit node
  • Resell or redistribute Oaken Mesh access to third parties
  • Intentionally overload exit node infrastructure (crypto mining, torrenting at sustained maximum bandwidth)

Automated technical measures

We employ automated, privacy-preserving controls to prevent abuse on exit nodes, including port blocking, connection rate limiting, and IP reputation filtering. These measures operate on connection metadata only (packet counts, bandwidth, port numbers) and do not inspect your traffic content or record your destinations.

Abuse reporting

If you believe an Oaken Mesh exit node is being used for abuse, report it to abuse@oakenmesh.com. Include the IP address, timestamps, and nature of the abuse. We investigate all reports.

For copyright complaints (DMCA or equivalent), include: identification of the copyrighted work, the infringing material, your contact information, and a statement of good faith. We will forward valid notices to the account holder where identification is possible within our data retention window. Counter-notifications may be submitted to the same address.

Enforcement

Violations may result in:

  • Warning — for minor or first-time violations
  • Temporary suspension — for repeated or moderate violations (including repeated copyright complaints)
  • Immediate termination — for severe violations (malware, CSAM, active attacks)

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion. Where possible, we will notify you before taking action.

4. Account responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining access to your authentication method (Apple ID or email). You are responsible for all activity under your account.

5. Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle. Cancel any time through Paddle, our payment provider. On cancellation, your account downgrades to the Free tier at the end of the current billing period.

6. Free tier

The Free tier includes mesh networking for unlimited devices. No managed exit nodes are included in the Free tier. You may use your own device as an exit node. We may adjust Free tier limits in the future.

7. Managed exit nodes

Managed exit nodes are persistent — once provisioned, a node stays allocated to your network until you manually delete it or switch regions. You can rotate (destroy and re-provision) an exit node at any time from the app.

We may automatically replace an exit node if our health checks detect it is unreachable, and we may migrate your node to faster infrastructure when available. In both cases, you retain the same region and your connection resumes automatically.

8. Availability

Oaken Mesh is in beta. We do not provide a Service Level Agreement (SLA) or guarantee uptime. The service may be subject to maintenance and disruptions.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR AVAILABILITY.

Inspirify Limited does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. You use the service at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

  • Inspirify Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service.
  • Inspirify Limited's total aggregate liability for any claims arising out of or related to these terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total fees you paid to Inspirify Limited in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) HKD 500.

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based, whether you have been advised of the possibility of such damages, and even if a limited remedy is found to have failed its essential purpose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Inspirify Limited, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of the service in violation of these terms or applicable law
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
  • Any content or data you transmit through the service
  • Any activity conducted through your account, whether authorized by you or not

This indemnification obligation survives termination of your account and these terms.

12. Force majeure

Inspirify Limited shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, acts of government, pandemics, war or terrorism, infrastructure failures, internet outages, power failures, third-party service disruptions, or labor disputes. During such events, our obligations are suspended for the duration of the force majeure event.

13. Export controls and sanctions

You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country or territory subject to comprehensive sanctions by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, or Hong Kong. You agree not to use the service in violation of any applicable export control laws or economic sanctions regulations. We reserve the right to terminate accounts if we reasonably believe they are being used to circumvent sanctions.

14. Dispute resolution

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. Either party may initiate negotiation by sending written notice to the other party describing the dispute.

If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days of such notice, either party may submit the dispute to binding arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) under its then-current rules. The arbitration shall be conducted in English in Hong Kong by a single arbitrator.

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm.

Class action waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. If this waiver is found unenforceable, the entire dispute resolution clause (excluding this waiver) shall still apply.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

16. Changes to terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Material changes take effect 30 days after we notify you by email.
